Decarbonizing Manufacturing in the Fashion Industry

According to Paulo Coelho,  it is the world's greatest lie that "at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what's happening to us..."   Nowhere is this more apparent than in the issue of climate change.  We agree with the scientific consensus that at this moment in time we DO have the opportunity to influence climate change.  We have the opportunity to shape our modern world in the same way as shaped by the first industrial revolution.

Human activity is causing global average temperatures to rise at unprecedented rates.  In the face of wildfires, droughts, flooding, and hurricanes, it is imperative that we lead the earth's course correction.  We are passionate about preserving the beauty of earth for future generations to come.

Decarbonizing Manufacturing in the Fashion Industry

RICKEY RUFF
FOUNDER / MANAGING DIRECTOR

Rickey Ruff began his career in fashion with Ralph Lauren Corporation in New Yok City successfully carrying out roles on the international scale in product development, global manufacturing & sourcing, costing, technical design, & global business process.  He’s lived in Switzerland, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, and has traveled for Global Nuclear Concepts pilot projects throughout Europe, the UK, the Middle East & Asia.

With a multilateral, multinational, and multisectoral approach, his mission is to decarbonize manufacturing in the fashion industry with nuclear power.  Rickey recognized an opportunity to bring two very unlikely yet very exciting sectors together creating an onramp for broad & significant global participation in the fight against climate change.

He also created the 1st ever Nuclear-Powered Carbon Offset for the fashion industry and currently works in product operations to accelerate & expand product creation, profitability, visibility, alignment, & brand impact.

While living in Switzerland, engagement with the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs facilitated his comprehension of the imminence of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Eventually, further engagement with cross-sectoral stakeholders at the UN back in New York & later at the London Stock Exchange deepened his obligation to the current climate crisis.

The Foreign Service Officer exam in Frankfurt and prospective role in protective apparel with Dow-Dupont in Luxembourg were additional stimulation for his idea to address not only the most important issue that this generation faces but more importantly the problem that threatens the existence of humankind:

Global Warming.

Rickey launched Global Nuclear Concepts to put us back on track and to give every person on earth a clear path toward the greenhouse gas mitigation targets of the Paris Climate Agreement, limiting the magnitude and rate of global warming.  Rickey believes in the potential of public-private partnerships & the magnitude and potential of industry to aggressively advance the 2030 goals. He currently conducts public speaking engagements around the world focused on the tangible, practical, & quantifiable pathways for sustainability in fashion & the ability to revolutionize manufacturing by addressing the cost and abundance of carbon-free energy.

KATRINA RUFF
CORPORATE STRATEGY

Katrina is the owner/operator of Forums Meetings & Events, where her team of 13 produce corporate meetings and events from concept to completion, including conferences, trade shows, town halls, large meetings & incentives.

Katrina attended Prairie View A&M University where she studied Electrical Engineering.  During the production of her son (Rickey Ruff)’s first birthday party, one of the parents, impressed by the festivities, suggested that she direct her passion for event production to corporate events.  The parent scheduled a meeting for her with his office and she took on Pepsi Bottling Group as her first account.  Katrina’s commitment to excellence drove her to seek out training and certification in the event management industry.  She earned her CMP (Certified Meeting Planner), CIS (Certified Incentive Specialist) and completed all of the coursework for the CTSM (Certified Trade Show Manager).  Katrina refers to herself as a “details beast” and is always seeking to introduce the latest and greatest in event design.  In 2017, she was honored by MeetingsNet Magazine as one of the Top 20 Changemakers in the industry among other awards along the way.

Armed with a stellar event management background, Katrina came to work producing events for the Cold War Patriots.  This is an organization that helps Former Uranium & Nuclear Workers with Compensation & Benefits.  The US Government sets aside 7 Billion dollars a year for those workers injured during the production of assets for the Cold War prior to 1971.  Katrina partnered with the Cold War Patriots organization to produce 133 events per year, including large conferences, senior resource fairs, and town halls.  This entire effort was to identify and assist workers who were affected by nuclear plants pre 1971.

The intersection between event production and The Cold War Patriots makes Katrina Ruff the ideal strategist for Global Nuclear Concepts.  Having worked with most of the nuclear plants in the United States, Katrina uniquely understands the misinformation regarding the commercial use of nuclear power.  She has incredible empathy for the adversely affected workers and those disproportionately affected by climate change.  Her affinity and care provide a guiding light to ensure the safe and responsible deployment of nuclear power.
